Location: Strykersville, NY
One of my favorite things is when we try breweries that are sort of hidden or not in a mainstream spot. We pull up and hesitate to go in. Not because it’s sketchy but just because it’s different. However, you can’t judge a book by it’s cover…
These are the places that always catch you by surprise. And this week, we’re talking about Windy Brew in Strykersville.
When we pulled into Windy Brew off 20A, you could tell the brewery is next to the owner’s home. In fact, it was almost confusing whether the brewery was open on this particular Sunday since we didn’t know if the vehicles were there for the brewery or for the home. However, it was Sunday, the bills were playing, and Liz and I had no intention of turning around…
When we walked in, any hesitation was gone. The tap room was warm, welcoming and relaxed. Christmas lights were hung and the Bills game was on. There was one other table of bills fans, who were very friendly and kept up conversation. (We think they were the owners.)
We ordered flights. Two standouts for us were the PTDS and the Turbine. (LOVE this theme.)
Oh another standout was the food. We are like 98% sure that this was “Cuomo Food” but either way it was done amazingly! I personally thought the wing sauce was heavenly. And the wings were tender enough to get all the meat off it. (Buffalo problems, I know.) Plus, there were fantastic specials for the game. The babes love a discount!
Overall, there were no complaints or criticism of Windy Brew! It’s a great brewery to visit with good variety of beer. I’ve also seen they have some home brewing classes available when the world isn’t in the middle of a pandemic. This is totally up our ally and I think when it opens we’d definitely consider it.
Stop by if you get the chance!
